Tanya’s suffering and faith
Tanya (not her real name) knows suffering:
I’ve been going through an exceptional time the last few years. I don’t want to call it a difficult time because God is with me and provides at His discretion.
After 10 years of marriage my daughter went through a divorce and after three attempts to end her life she lost her children. She has been unemployed for a year and half and is busy with an endless court case for custody.
My son was left in front of the pulpit twice in three years, without any explanation. The pain caused by this is immense.
After 23 years my husband closes his business because of problems with employees and unions. He and my son are unemployed. I have to support them with my salary. The overheads are simply too high.
Six months later my husband found a job and we praise the Heavenly Father for this job and the money he earns, even though it is just enough to pay the rent.
One evening he got arrested out of the blue because he apparently threatened another man. He had overnight in jail amongst criminals from the street. The other person’s word against his. He was released on bail and the case is still pending. We don’t know what is going to happen.
Last week the sheriff came to write up our furniture because we have been sued for outstanding debt form the closed business.
Some days we don’t have enough money to buy bread …
It is never ending. So I am astounded at Tanya’s faith in her God:
But God provides! He has put people on our way to help. He has provided!
At times I became so discouraged because I am only human. Still I could wake up every morning with peace in my heart. I cannot describe this to anybody, but I had courage for every day. I took every day with God on my side because without Him I would not have been able to do this.
God gave me the assurance that His protective blood is over me and my family and that He will never forsake us. I have so much peace and I believe and trust my God 100% and I know He is with us every day.
We have to believe and trust that there is a God, a loving God who is holding our hand every day and leads us, keeps us and protects us.
I praise and honour Him with all of my heart and with all I have and will do so till the end.
Tanya holds on despite of suffering and pain. We can say of Tanya the same as Paul says about the people of Thessalonica: 4…Therefore, we speak of you with pride among the churches of God for your steadfastness and your firm faith in the midst of all the persecution and distress which you endure.
May you and I deal with suffering this way. May there one day be talk about our faith the way we talk about Tanya’s faith.
To think about
What does your suffering look like?
What does your faith look like?
What do you have to do?
Father, sometimes my knees start shaking because of all the suffering. I cannot go on. Sometimes my faith is so thin and I’m not sure if I’m going to reach the next day. I need you SO much! Amen.
