Live with an open door
I knew nothing about IT. I knew even less about websites, but when we started Crossroads247 online ministry, I realised I would have to learn about it because it’s my pulpit.
It took many hours of research. I made many mistakes and kicked closed doors many times. I simply knew too little to make things work. It was very frustrating to know there must be a solution, but you just don’t know where the handle is to open the door.
A mutual friend introduced us to each other. Arrie knew a lot about the things I was struggling with. And I think it was during our third meeting that we realised we were cousins!
That was the start of a wonderful relationship. To this day, we can still call each other for some advice. Arrie showed me again and again where the door handle was.
Sometimes he said there wasn’t a door, but I should check if there maybe was an open window somewhere. And so, time after time, we would find a solution. He saved me hours and nights of sitting in front of the computer.
If it wasn’t for Arrie, I would still be standing in front of closed doors.
And if it weren’t for God, if it weren’t for His power and might, we lost sinners would still be floundering about in the dark. We would’ve ended up before a closed door and not know where the handle was.
If God hadn’t revealed Himself to us, we would have been totally lost. If Jesus hadn’t come to earth, we would not have had any idea of who God is and how we should worship Him.
Just as Arrie made it possible for me to learn about IT stuff and put websites together, God shone the light on our dark lives. God made the light shine on His greatness and made it possible for us to see Him and serve Him.
Thank goodness for that.
We belong to God. We serve an Almighty and loving Father. He chose you and me to be part of His plan. Yes, He made everything possible through His power and glory. On our own, we would never get there. We would never know where the handle was to open the door to get to Him.
3Everything that goes into a life of pleasing God has been miraculously given to us by getting to know, personally and intimately, the One who invited us to God.
Let us then live a life of gratitude. Let us do everything as specially chosen, handpicked children of God who have value, and who cannot help but praise Him in everything.

2 Peter 1:1-2
Reflection
How do you understand God’s role in your life?
How do you live your gratitude towards Him?
How do others experience you as a child of God?
Prayer
Father, thank You for choosing me. Thank you that Your power opened the door to You for me. May my life glorify You more and more and praise Your Name. Amen.
