God's word in today's world

Last for 2021

In some instances, this year was even worse than last year and Crossroad247 had even more virtual visits. What an unbelievable privilege for us to be able to help people tackle the monsters in life.

The arrival of lockdown saw the birth of Crossroad247’s new baby, online worship. By now, we’ve done close to a 100 online services, and, to be honest, we had an awesome experience writing, recording and producing each and every one of them. Yes, sometimes the wind was blowing or the sun was in our eyes or the background noise was simply too loud, but in the end, the Father helped us create a professional production that proclaims God’s Word in today’s world. (Take a look at the research results here: https://kruispad.247.org.za/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/KRUISPAD247-TV-AANLYNEREDIENS-NAVORSING-2021-3.pdf )

Obviously, this new baby took a big bite out of our already full programme and we prayed earnestly for someone who could take over the Roadtrip247 youth ministry. We are grateful that John Matthews put up his hand to take this on, and for more than three months now, he and his team have been taking this ministry to greater heights.

Our family has experienced a few new seasons this past year.

  • On 31 July, our eldest, Alet-Mari, married Matthys Nieuwoudt and moved to Pretoria.
  • Just recently Mia graduated with a B degree in Speech-Language and Hearing Therapy. She will be doing her community year in Ladysmith, KZN, in 2022.
  • Benno had a very interesting gap year. He did work experience in a number of places from PE to Gauteng as well as Stellenbosch, and has decided to study a BSc Information Technology course at Eduvos in Tyger Valley.
  • Renata and I are starting to use our children’s independence to our advantage (to alleviate the empty nest syndrome). We call it “taking working holidays” 😊 – which actually only means that we work in locations other than home. This really stimulates our creativity and contributes to making the presentation of the online services interesting.

When we look back on this year and the impact that Crossroad247 made, we are grateful and can only say, all glory to God. Without Him, we would simply be empty sounding cymbals.

Thank you for your words of inspiration and thanks. Thank you to each donor who made it possible for us to do our work. Thank you to each staff member and volunteer for your selfless energy. We praise God for your faithfulness.

May you have a blessed festive season. (And talking about festivities, we’ve worked very hard to bring you a special service on Christmas Day. Please go to our YouTube channel on 25 December at 9h00 to experience this extra special story.)

Shalom

Gerjo Ben and Renata
