God's word in today's world

God’s timing is supernaturally perfect

Marina (not her real name) wrote to me in an e-mail:

The time is 23:30 and I’m reading that piece about the clutch slipping. Thank you for this piece. It’s precisely where I was … slipping off the road, because I was sulking. It felt to me as if the Lord did not hear me and why should I spend so much time on Him if I was praying against a wall?

And then your message arrived exactly at the right time. I feel ashamed and I can feel how the Spirit is giving me a new clutch through your message.

I responded as follows:

Thank you, Marina. I’m amazed again and again at how perfect God’s timing is. All glory to Him!

A couple of days ago I received an e-mail from Carina (not her real name):

Today is the second time that I’ve received Crossroad. I must say your timing with a message is almost supernaturally perfect. When I read the heading, I laughed out loud …

My response to her:

Hallo, Carina. I’m always astounded at the Lord’s timing. It is always perfect! All glory to Him.

And it’s true. God’s timing is always perfect. Things simply happen at the right time.

Maybe you’ve been waiting for a long time for something to happen. Maybe you’ve become discouraged and have no strength left to pray. You want to give up, because one can only wait so long. Or you’re simply sick and tired of waiting.

Maybe the right answer hasn’t arrived at your door yet. Maybe it’s because you’re being protected from harm that things haven’t yet happened as you are begging for. Remember, we cannot see further than right now. We don’t know what lies waiting for us behind the corner of the next minute.

God knows. God knows exactly what the picture of the rest of our lives look like. That is why I suspect it is better to leave it to God to let things happen at the right time in our lives.

Therefore, we have to change our prayer. We must pray like Paul. Let’s learn from him:11May God our Father himself and our Master Jesus clear the road to you!

Paul trusted in God. He knew that if God wanted him to visit these people again, God would let it happen.

God hasn’t changed since then. God will still make the right thing happen at the right time. Make peace with that and then pray: 11May God our Father himself and our Master Jesus clear the road to you!

Scripture

1 Thessalonians 3:11-13

Reflection

Are you tired of waiting?

How do you pray?

Do you trust God’s timing?

Prayer

Our Father in heaven, I trust You. I trust that You always have perfect timing. It’s just difficult for me to wait. Amen.
