Battle follows where the enemy is
Some preachers “sell” Christianity to unsaved people in a way that makes everything sound wonderful and nice. Sort of pie in the sky where everything go swimmingly. Make a couple of corrections in your life and see the blessings of the Lord rain on you. Your present suffering is simply the result of your own wrong deeds. But when you turn to God, the dark clouds will disappear and the wonderful sun of prosperity will shine on you.
What a complete lie. These people turn a blind eye to the reality around us and make up stories far removed from the truth.
There is an enemy who do not want Christendom to grow. Although this enemy has been defeated, he tries his best to prevent people from turning to God. Where enemies are involved you must prepare yourself for war. You must secure yourself and be ready for the attack at all times. Yes, war can break out at any time and the question is whether you will be ready. Will you be equal to the task to defend what you believe in to the utmost?
3The world is unprincipled. It’s dog-eat-dog out there! The world doesn’t fight fair.
I still remember the training I had in the army. I can still remember how the corporals chased us around in the middle of the day and the middle of the night. They succeeded in drilling all the mommy stuff out of us and making us into big men, ready to defend our country. By the end of the twelve months they had us so fired up that we were prepared to do anything for our country. Even to shoot and kill people.
The enemy is quite busy in the spiritual world and we have to realise that we have to be ready to take up our weapons at any time of the day to fight for what we believe in. Listen here: 4The tools of our trade aren’t for marketing or manipulation, but they are for demolishing that entire massively corrupt culture. 5We use our powerful God-tools for smashing warped philosophies, tearing down barriers erected against the truth of God, fitting every loose thought and emotion and impulse into the structure of life shaped by Christ. 6Our tools are ready at hand for clearing the ground of every obstruction and building lives of obedience into maturity.
It’s war, man! That’s the truth. How many times a day do we have to buckle up and fight against an attack by the devil? How many times do we have to be prepared to stand guard and protect what we believe in? All the time the enemy is trying to steal, to drive a wedge between people, to take away our joy, and much more.
We must realise that we are engaged in a war. The enemy can come at any moment of the day and we must be equal to the task. We must be familiar with our weapons and know how to use them. We must make time for God. We must know His voice. We must know exactly what He expects of us and which weapons we have to use. We must instinctively put the Holy Spirit in control. The victory will be possible.
When we were in the army and were attacked on the border, every soldier knew what to do. At the first shots you start shivering from fear. Your heart beats loudly in your ears. Suddenly your breath comes deep and hard. Your thoughts run wild around your head. Somewhere you wonder whether you will be the one today who doesn’t make it out of this contact session. But when you hear your commander’s voice, you know exactly what to do. Automatically you go forward and do what you have to.
We must draw a line in the sand and tell ourselves that there is an enemy, and if there is an enemy, the fight will follow. Spend time with God. Get to know His voice. Allow Him to change you. Let Him train and empower you for the attack. Then we’ll win the war. Yes, we’ll be the victors every time.
Reflection
Where is your war?
Are you equal to the task?
Can you hear the Commander’s instructions?
Prayer
Lord, for sure it is war. I can feel it. I must confess that at times I wanted to throw in the towel. Now I know it was because I was not sufficiently prepared for the attack. I want to learn more. I want to be up to it. Therefore, I want to spend more time with You, because I believe that if your Spirit is in control we can win the war. Amen
