God's word in today's world

All you need

We don’t have the skills to walk through life on our own. Just look at our track record, it doesn’t look good. See the myriad wrong choices we have made already; the many broken relationships left behind; the many bodies left for dead.

We made most of these mistakes on our own. We thought we could do it on our own, but the results speak for themselves. we obviously need reinforcements. We need someone to take us by the hand and show us the way. The answer is Christ:

10Everything of God gets expressed in him, so you can see and hear him clearly. You don’t need a telescope, a microscope, or a horoscope to realize the fullness of Christ, and the emptiness of the universe without him. When you come to him, that fullness comes together for you, too. His power extends over everything.

There’s a war going on out there. Powers, evil powers, want to lead us astray so that we can’t see where we’re going. It may seem so innocent, but further along the road the hurt and broken hearts pile up. On our own we don’t see the consequences of our choices. Therefore, the need for reinforcements. And who better than the One who knows everything and what exactly is lying waiting for us further along the road?

Christ is in control. He knows everything. He even knows hell. He knows what the devil and his followers can do. He knows that we are soft targets and can easily fall into the enemy’s dirty hands. Can you see the dead bodies of broken relationships all around you? Everywhere we see the enemy’s winner’s flag fluttering in the wind.

I suspect it is those times when people didn’t have a relationship with Christ. Christ never formed part of their struggle. People thought they could do life on their own, but obviously they are not strong enough.

The secret here is actually quite simple and we all know it: a close relationship with Christ. I so long for a more intimate relationship with God, because I know that then I will not make so many wrong choices. On the contrary, I’m reminded of the promise over and over again: 10to realize the fullness of Christ, and the emptiness of the universe without him. When you come to him, that fullness comes together for you, too.

Wow!

Sometimes we make it difficult for ourselves to grasp the simple truths. We know it. We know that Christ should have more time in our lives. We know that we have to ensure that our relationship with Christ forms part of our lives all the time. In that intimate relationship with Him we will receive guidance for the day so that we can make the right choices at the crossroads in life.

I want to challenge you to make Christ part of your day. There will be such a different outcome and he will make sure that you lack nothing.

Scripture

Colossians 2:9-12

Reflection

What do your decisions look like?

How much time do you give Christ in your busy day?

How can you increase the time?

Prayer

Thank you, Christ, for promising that You will give us everything we need. I believe it. But I do realise that I must make You a part of my day. Please help me to plan for that. Please help me to do it. I look forward to a much more intimate relationship with You Amen.
